69,000 visit, Level II Trauma E.D. aims to provide superior comprehensive care
Somerset, NJ – June 1, 2009 – Wellsoft Corporation is pleased to announce that Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center (Brookhaven) in East Patchogue, New York has selected its Emergency Department Information System (EDIS). A community hospital, serving 69,000 patients each year in its Level II Trauma Emergency Department, Brookhaven provides healthcare to residents of Suffolk County, New York.
With Wellsoft EDIS, Brookhaven will replace its manual Emergency Department processes and system and implement a state of the art information system that will assist the staff in their efforts to provide superior comprehensive care to their patients and their families. Documentation templates will improve workflow, reduce paper costs and eliminate transcription fees. Real-time chart availability will eliminate lost charts, improve communication and reduce errors. Charges will be automatically captured to ensure appropriate billing.
“We looked closely at each of the leading ED Information Systems. I spoke with colleagues all over the country that had substantial experience with many of the leading systems. In the end, Wellsoft was the clear, unanimous choice of our selection committee. We very much look forward to working with Wellsoft to implement our EDIS that will enable our Emergency Department to better serve the people in our community.”
Kai M. Stürmann MD
Chairman, Emergency Medicine
Wellsoft EDIS will integrate seamlessly with Brookhaven’s HL7 compliant hospital wide and departmental systems such as laboratory, radiology, and hospital billing systems. Wellsoft’s integration support, combined with its core functions of patient tracking, clinical documentation, order and medication management will promote continuity of care by allowing all caregivers and staff throughout the facility authorized access to relevant information.
"We are pleased to be selected to help Brookhaven realize their goals,” said Wellsoft President John Santmann, MD. “With Wellsoft EDIS, Brookhaven will be able to optimize their emergency department efficiency while providing enhanced patient care.”
